Look at it this way, it's just a big iPod Touch- This one really is true. Steve Jobs told me that he was tired of looking at the small screen and just wanted a big, cool, shiny device to mess around with. Instead of coming up with a new idea, he just said, ehh make it bigger! And now he is laughing all the way to the bank. So check out the iPod Touch XL a.k.a. The iPad.
If you have ever held an iPad, you will know they they are rather delicate. A clumsy person like me is destined to drop this device and crack the screen. I have already had to repair my iPod Touch and my iPhone, both had a broken LCD. So now that the iPad is here, I can just see it now, I am walking through my house and the device slips from my grip and falls to the floor. If I purchase an iPad, I will make sure to protect it with a case and a screen protector.
The Apple iPad will undoubtedly be the hottest gadget of 2010 and the most sought after piece of technology come December. But I always come back to the question, Why is this device popular? Is it the fact that it is made by Apple, ipso facto it is cool. Does it actually serve a purpose? The iPhone, and iPod Touch have the same capabilities as the iPad but they are more portable and can fit in your pocket. The iPhone even has a camera on it, the iPad doesn't have a camera (but it is thought that the 2nd Gen iPad will have a camera) so how is this device an improvement? Apple will argue that it fills that niche between using your iPhone and "lugging" around a netbook. Granted the iPad looks better than any netbook I have ever seen but it is certainly not more capable.
